About Lake Mountain
Lake Mountain is open year-round and offers bushwalking, mountain biking and sightseeing in the 'green' months, with tobogganing, cross country skiing and snowplay during winter.
Lake Mountain resort entry and car parking
During the snow season Lake Mountain Alpine Resort charges an entry fee for access to the resort and car parking.
In previous years you could buy the entry pass from us, but in 2020 the COVID-19 distancing and capacity policies set out by the Australian and Victorian Governments meant that you could only buy the Resort entry pass directly from Lake Mountain, the day before you arrived. This may change again in 2021.
Lake Mountain tobogganing and snowplay
The snow season opens on the Queens Birthday Weekend in early June and closes in late September/early October depending on conditions.
There are 3 toboggan slopes: Village Run, Koala Creek and Leadbeaters. Snowmaking operates when possible during the snow season to ensure enough snow cover for snowplay and tobogganing fun.
There's always plenty of room to make a snowman, have a snowball fight, or just walk through the snow gums enjoying the beauty of Victoria's alpine environment during winter.
Lake Mountain XC trails
There are nearly 40km of ski/walking trails and the total skiable area is 2,400 hectares.
Lake Mountain Resort offers cross country skiing lessons for adults and children in a "public lesson" small group format, where up to 10 people can learn together. Private lessons are also available.
Lake Mountain resort facts
The highest point in the resort is the Hut Trail at 1,480m. Lake Mountain's summit is 1,433m and the base altitude is 1,340m.
In spring, summer and autumn activities include a 240m flying fox, tube run, laser skirmish (subject to weather conditions, check availability before arriving) and 20km of mountain bike single track suitable for beginners to advanced riders.
Food and drink
The Lake Mountain Bistro is open 7 days during winter, from 8am-4pm. It's fully licensed and is located in the main visitor centre with great views over the resort. Choose from a variety of homemade dishes, wood fired pizza, freshly made sandwiches, wraps, rolls, salads, take away style foods, fresh cakes and donuts. All food is made fresh daily on the premises.
It's not yet known whether the cafe will operate during summer 2020/21.
